BLUE COAT INTRODUCES
SPYWARE INTERCEPTOR – FIRST AND ONLY PROXY-BASED ANTI-SPYWARE APPLIANCE FOR
1,000 USERS OR LESS
Spyware Interceptor is
built on Blue Coat’s proxy technology, and will come in an easy-to-deploy and
affordable appliance form-factor. The appliance utilizes SCOPE™ (Spyware
Catching Object Protection Engine) technology to prevent both known and unknown
forms of spyware at the gateway, which uniquely allows access to legitimate Web
applications and the ability to safely view spyware-laden Web sites without
becoming infected. The spyware prevention capabilities in Spyware Interceptor
are derived from Blue Coat’s enterprise focused ProxySG™ solution. Both Spyware
Interceptor for smaller networks and ProxySG for larger networks allow IT
administrators to minimize futile cycles using ineffective spyware cleaners. More>
How to Gain Business Agility with a Flexible IT
Infrastructure, with Radware
It used to be that data center consolidations were motivated by the desire to
cut costs. Then complying with regulatory pressures became an important
influencer in driving servers from remote sites to the data center.
While these considerations are still important, today’s data center
consolidation initiatives are more about improving business agility and aligning
strategic IT infrastructure investments with business imperatives.
By putting a premium on speed/performance and flexibility, new consolidated
data centers are searching for a resilient application delivery architecture
that provides
- 24×365 availability
- End-to-end performance monitoring and application optimization
- Flexibility to accommodate dynamically changing business and application
requirements
For IT organizations running consolidated data centers, Radware’s
architectural approach provides a complete application delivery solution. Using
this solution, IT organizations can advance and contribute to a variety of
business objectives by improving business agility in a number of ways.

DBAM Beats the
Bandwidth Blues
South
Africa’s battle with bandwidth has just
got a shot in the arm—DBAM Systems’ award-winning
Exbander Precision WAN Optimisation Controller products are now available
through official distributor eSecure Distribution and its nation-wide resellers
including and VAR’s including Exbandnet.
The news is
especially good for small to medium-sized businesses wanting to expand their online business operations without buying costly and
unnecessary bandwidth. DBAM System’s crown jewel is the Exbander Precision EP60
which recently won the Gold Award from Europe’s
foremost independent network
testing facility,
Broadband-Testing.
The Broadband
Testing report quoted that “while the EP60 is defined as a WAN/Internet bandwidth shaper/optimizer and
traffic accelerator, it is also a first class WAN monitoring device. Everything that goes across the WAN/Internet connection is
visible and easily identified; this is the most comprehensive WAN traffic
management product we have had in our
labs and it is not even described as one.”
The test report
shows that when the world’s best-selling voice/video conferencing solutions achieved 2:1 compression was achieved.
What this means for business is that the EP60 halved the amount of bandwidth
required to take that voice/video stream across the
Internet.
Data delivery
solutions—such as data backup—were also accelerated dramatically.
Broadband-Testing saw a 900%
improvement when moving archived data
files across the Internet. This level of optimization can not be attained by
throwing more bandwidth at the problem!
The 4Mbit EP60
is aimed at companies that turnover between R200 000 and R1 million wishing to
optimize Internet links out of a single office, or have two or three offices
around the country running applications. It costs under R20 000, including
installation, similar bandwidth optimisers cost between R50 000 and R70 000, so
are out of reach to smaller enterprises.
The EP60’s
corporate siblings—the EP600/6000 to
EP60 000—easily handle from between 2Mbit for enterprise traffic to 1GBit at
carrier class.
Broadband-Testing Laboratories’ report said that the EP60 “offers
what we see as class-leading
performance, with a unique approach to managing the traffic that makes a mockery of its low
price.”
It also
commended the degree to which users can fine-tune “the prioritisation, performance and
management of that traffic is truly phenomenal”.
The Exbander
Precision devices are designed to manage the efficient use of network resources
and work with every network type. The EP60 is an open channel product, available
through eSecure and it’s resellers, while the EP600, EP6000 and EP6000 are only
available through the certified channel
